These terms apply when you use the Find My Clan website and when you purchase a report. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What the service is

Find My Clan turns an Irish surname into a heritage report: a county-strength ranking, an evidence map, a timeline, narrative context, and a downloadable certificate. The report is an exploratory, evidence-based reading derived from public historical records — not proven genealogy, a family tree, or a DNA result. We aim for accuracy and never fabricate coordinates or record counts, but we do not guarantee the completeness or correctness of any historical inference.

Purchases and price

A full report is a one-time $10 USD purchase per surname, paid through Stripe. There is no account and no subscription. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Your report opens immediately when you return from checkout, and Stripe emails your payment receipt. See our Refund Policy for refunds.

Your licence to use a report

When you buy a report we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own personal, non-commercial heritage research. Please do not resell, redistribute, or present the report as verified genealogical proof.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to scrape, bulk-download, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the access controls of the service, and do not use it unlawfully.

Intellectual property and sources

The report layout, narrative, and compiled data layer are ours or our licensors’. The underlying historical data comes from third-party sources under their own licences — including the National Archives of Ireland (census), OpenStreetMap-derived data (ODbL 1.0), and CSO/OSi and other Creative Commons Attribution sources. Those sources are credited in the report and source manifest, and their licence terms continue to apply.

Disclaimer

The service and reports are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. Heritage readings are probabilistic and intended as a starting point for further research, not as legal, genealogical, or factual proof of ancestry.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service or a report is limited to the amount you paid for that report. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.
